Explaining Airport Car Park Security Measures
Most people really treasure their cars, so because of this we thought we'd explain in detail some of the security measures which can be found in the airport car parks we provide, some of the information maybe self explanatory but we're sure it will be useful all the same.
Security Barriers.
You will find that most of the ON airport car parks will have security barriers as well as quite a few of the OFF airport car parks.
Security barriers are usually associated with self park car parks making the whole process automated. You simply arrive at the barrier and enter the credit/debit card you used to book online with and the barrier raises, you then park your car and make your way to the terminal either by walking or using the free shuttle busses.
A lot of the barrier control systems also use (ANPR) Automated Number Plate Recognition. With this system you simply drive up to the barrier and wait a few seconds, once the system has recognised your number plate you'll be issued a ticket and allowed access.
With all barrier controls there is a help/call button in case of any problems.
Security Fencing.
Security fencing can be found in almost all of the airport car parks we provide. It's one of the basic security measures required for a secure car park but at the same time it's certainly one of the most effective.
It can range from wire fencing to steel strip fencing which will sometimes be topped with barbed/razor wire. It covers the entire car park perimeter and restricts access/exit to designated gates.
CCTV.

A major deterrent for any car thief. CCTV cameras at airport car parks are designed to film and record the whole car parking area giving clients complete peace of mind whilst they're away.
These cameras are also very useful for when it comes to reconsiling any possible disputes between car owners and the actual car park.

Security Patrols.
One of the best security features available to any airport car park is the staff who work there. Many of the car parks we provide have regular security patrols which check the perimeter fencing as well as the cars located in the car park.
Security patrols are especially useful at night and act as a serious deterrent to anybody trying to enter the car park illegally.
Security Lighting.
A very useful security measure which allows the security patrols to see at night. Not only this, a well lit car park is less likely to experience unwanted visitors.
Another major benefit of security lighting at airport car parks is that it offers security to any client returning to pick up or drop off their car late at night.
Park Mark Award
Many of the airport car parks you'll find on our comparison website will have the Park Mark Award for Safer Parking. This is issued by the police after an inspection of the car park. The police check all security features mentioned above and if the car park is deemed to be VERY secure then it receives the award.
Looking for the Park Mark award on our website is a great indication of just how secure the car park is.
