It seems that East Midlands airport were not content at being named as the “Star Regional UK Airport” this year, they have now also been named as “Airport of the Year 2010” at the National Travel Trade Gazette in London this month.
Voted for by independent industry observers and travel agents, East Midlands airport was winner because of it high levels of customer satisfaction, excellent product development and its good relationship with travel partners.
Caroline Plant, East Midlands Airport’s Marketing Director said that “We are delighted and extremely proud to have secured such a highly acclaimed award from somme of the most experienced industry professionals in the travel industry.”
Airport were judged on their facilities, customer services standards, innovation, travel trade relations, business strategy, environmental performance and commitment to local communities.
East Midlands beat Robin Hood airport, Doncaster, Cardiff, Sheffield, Bristol, Bournemouth and Mancheser to win the award which was held at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London.
