Gatwick Airport Will Invest £20 Million To Link To Airports Across The UK If Awarded Second Runway
The company behind Gatwick Airport are desperate to get permission for a second runway; they have repeatedly said how important the second runway would be for the airport and the economy. Now, to up the stakes to get the second runway they have pledge to invest £20 Million to link to other airports around the UK.
Links To Other UK Airports
Bosses at the airport have said they will invest the money once the runway has opened and encourage airlines to operate routes to airports not currently linked to them. The money will be used to help market the routes as well as paying for reserved flight slots.
Gatwick currently serves 11 destinations around the UK. With the added investment, it could mean every single airport including small airports like Humberside Airport having a direct link to Gatwick.
Gatwick Airport Comments
A Gatwick Airport spokesman said: “This initiative is designed to ensure that the benefits of a second runway also extends to further improving connectivity between the regions and nations and Gatwick.”
