Car Park Operating Without Planning Permission.
It seems that a major car park at Leeds Bradford airport has been operationg for the past 10 years without the correct planning consent.
The Sentinel car park on Warren House Lane close to the airport has been used by thousands of travellers (including me) over the past 10 years and it’s now putting forward an application for permanent use on the site which can park up to 2,200 cars.
However, local planning officers are recommending that the application be refused because it is a “key employment” site. Martin Sellens, head of planning services, said: “It was initially thought there was permission for this use but further investigations have shown that is not the case.”
There have also been questions asked by Coun Jamie Matthews, who wanted to know why no action had been taken over the last ten years to end the unauthorised car parking use.
After all said and done it seems that the Sentinel car park will stay, at least for the near future because panel members at planning were indicating that they may be in a position to offer temporary consent, possibly for between five and 10 years.
