Police Investigate The Closure Of Cheshire Nantwich Travel
It has been claimed that customers could have been duped for thousands of pounds.
The independent travel agency, Nantwich Travel closed without warning and according to reports, the owner David Shearer has not contacted customers with an explanation. Customers are worried they have lost all their money.
The Crewe Chronicle said it had spoken to some customers who said they had booked a holiday with the travel agent but had not received any confirmation over the booking or flight tickets.
One group said they had handed the travel agent £18,000 and are now very worried.
Cheshire Police confirmed they were investigating after they received several complaints from customers.
Customers were shocked after an ABTA spokeswoman said Nantwich Travel had resigned its ABTA membership two years ago. The spokeswoman said the travel agent has been a member of Global Travel Group since April 2015.
She added: “Customers should in the first instance contact their tour operator to confirm the status of their booking and if they require any further help, Global on 01244 521202.”
A spokesman for Global said they were helping police with their enquiries.
“We urge anyone who is concerned about a holiday booking, or any payment they made to Nantwich Travel, to contact the police directly,” added the spokeswoman.
Travel Network Group
The Travel Network Group has now reassured customers of Cheshire travel agency Nantwich Travel, which is under investigation by the police, that it will ‘honour them’ if they paid money up to April 25.
