Arora International Gatwick
Arora International Gatwick

A hotel that runs round the clock, the Arora Gatwick has everything the modern traveller needs, from a luxury gym to a great bar, both open 24 hours a day. You can even walk out of Crawley train station right into the hotel lobby, then catch the train on to the airport terminal after your stay. Even if the hotel's abundant facilities can't fit the bill, you're still just a five-minute walk from Crawley's County Mall shopping centre and Liquid nightclub. You'll be hard pressed to find something the Arora doesn't offer.
If you're delayed coming back, you'll need to pay for the extra time in the car park before you leave, at the hotel's normal rate. At the moment this is £10 per day.
The hotel is six miles from the airport.
You can check in from 2pm. You must check out by noon.
Good quality, local produce is the basis for the extensive and tasty-sounding menu in The Grill restaurant. There's fish from the Kent and Sussex coast, beef and veal from the west country, chicken from Suffolk and salmon from Scotland - and a whole section of the menu is devoted to explaining the origins of the produce and the standards of animal welfare. With starters from £6 and main courses from £13, plus desserts, the menu is super-appetising and hugely varied. There's a grilled meats section, a grilled fish section and two catches of the day, as well as other meat options and, pleasingly, a vegetarian section. More unusual options like veal, mackerel and monkfish sit alongside the usual steaks, burgers, lamb, pork and chicken dishes. We'd start with the savoury cheesecake made with goat's cheese, pickled beetroot and apple wafers, or maybe grilled south coast sardines with a harissa rub and tomato, parsley and garlic salad. For main, we like the sound of the lemon-and-oregano-marinated halloumi cheese burger, or the monkfish tail gigot rolled in citrus zest and served with butternut puree. The restaurant is open for breakfast from 6am to 10.30am, lunch from noon to 2pm and dinner from 6pm to 10pm. Breakfast costs £15.95 per person. Morgan's pub is open from 5pm to 11pm, or noon to 10.30pm on Sundays. Traditional pub grub is served until 10pm - think lasagne, fish and chips or pork belly, followed by chocolate truffle torte or pecan and toffee cheesecake. Or sit on one of the palm-shaped seats in the Palm Deli, which prides itself on its selection of coffees from around the world - there are even tasting notes on the menu. Stone-baked pizzas, sandwiches, wraps, burgers, cakes and pastries are also served here from 9.30am to 10pm.

Alternatively, a taxi will cost about £12 one way. Transfers KeypointsBus H4 leaves from the hotel every hour from 4.35am to 12.35am and goes to both terminals.
