Premier Inn Gatwick Central
Premier Inn Gatwick Central

We wouldn't be so bold as to call the Premier Inn Gatwick airport perfect. It's just that it's opposite the North terminal, yards from check-in. It's clean, comfortable and welcoming, with well-equipped rooms and a great value restaurant. And all this comes at a fantastic price. No, we're not going to call it perfect … but we're going to admit that we can't fault it.
The Premier Inn is completely non-smoking. Overnight parking at the hotel costs £10. Reception is open 24 hours a day.
The hotel is opposite the North terminal.
You can check in from 2pm. You must check out by noon.
We don't know what's tastier at the Premier Inn Gatwick airport - the dishes on the restaurant menu, or the great prices. There's a two-course meal deal for £10.99, or you can feast on three courses, plus a drink, plus breakfast for just £22. Only certain dishes are included in the offer, but it's not like the menu's small - there are pub favourites, fish dishes, pasta dishes, pizzas, grills, burgers, salads and steaks. If you're not opting for the meal deal, prices start from £2.20 for a starter, £6.65 for a main course and £3.99 for a dessert. We'd choose smoked salmon salad nicoise, with new potatoes, hard-boiled eggs, green beans, rocket, cherry tomatoes and mixed leaves, as our starter, followed by chicken and leek crumble pie with chips and garden peas. For dessert, it'd be Belgian waffles with warm chocolate fudge sauce and cream. The children's menu is equally good value, at £3.99 for a main course and 75p for starters and desserts. There's a good selection of dishes, from spaghetti bolognese to chicken curry - and even the most loving parents will find it hard not to steal a bite of their kids' Mini Chocolate Indulgence dessert. And then, there's the buffet breakfast. There's a huge selection of both cooked and continental items - think vegetarian sausages made with sauteed leek, omelettes, tomatoes, granola, porridge, crumpets and muffins. Breakfast is served from 5am to 10am - and if you have children under 16, it's free for two of them, as long as they're with an adult who is having breakfast too. If, woefully, your flight's too early for breakfast, the hotel offers a grab and go breakfast of a croissant and Costa coffee. Dinner is served from 4pm until midnight. Food is also available in the bar until about 1am. The bar is open 24 hours a day for drinks.

Premier Inn Gatwick Central Directions
By car: Leave the M23 at junction 9 and follow signs for Gatwick airport. Go straight on at the first two roundabouts, then right at the third roundabout. The hotel will be on the right. By public transport: If you're not coming by car, you can get a train or a coach to the airport, then catch the hotel's shuttle bus. There are roadworks at the airport right now, so the bus doesn't always leave from the same stop. If you go to stop 8 or 9, at either terminal, there will be a sign telling you where to wait. |
