Possible Benidorm Shark Attack

Benidorm Beach Closed After Possible Shark Attack

On the 17th September 2015, Ponitente Beach in Benidorm was closed due to a report of a shark attack. A ten-year-old boy who was on holiday with his family reported being attacked by an unidentified large fish.

Unidentified Fish

The boy was swimming in the sea when he saw what he described as greyish-green fish about a half a metre long. When he tried to touch it the unidentified fish bit him just above the waist. The ten year old was treated on the beach by first aiders and did not need hospital treatment.

Photographs of the injuries have been sent off to experts to find out if it was a shark and to determine if there is a shark in the area or a group of sharks.

Beach Evacuated

The beach was evacuated at around 11am but opened again at midday when the all clear was given.

Previous Incident

This is not the first time a report of a shark in Benidorm has been reported. Last year a tiger shark on the same beach bit a 30-year woman.
